After Debbie’s husband passed away in his 40’s, her destructive addiction to alcohol began to consume her life. Recovery programs only helped short-term. She was stuck in the cycle of addiction and battling and periods of homelessness.

“I went through the whole thing—eviction, being homeless, finding a place, getting bored, going to treatment, staying sober for a couple of months, and then starting to drink again.”

Left with no hope, Debbie cried out to God, asking Him to provide a way out of her toxic lifestyle.

I said, “God, I said you gotta help me here!” I wasn’t ever a ‘God person’ I just said, “God, it’s either I’m going to kill myself, or you’re going to help me
somehow!”

That’s when Debbie miraculously stumbled upon Wellspring—and was in the program just two weeks later! Now, Debbie has found God’s help at Hope Mission. She finally has peace in her heart.

“I’ve gone to almost all the programs out there. The missing factor was the God factor.”

Your generosity continues to make space for people like Debbie to be welcomed quickly into a community that will feed them healthy meals, share the Gospel of peace, and give them tools for long-term recovery.

“I’m pretty proud of myself! This place is such a good place. You really are saving lives, families, and children.”

Right now, you can provide a meal and care for a hurting and hungry neighbour for just $2.70. For many, a simple meal can be the beginning of a journey towards healing, hope, and transformation.
