Who We Are
HopeHealth, a division of Hope Mission, provides compassionate, barrier-free health and social supports for people experiencing homelessness. Our work is centered on restoration, recovery, and renewal—helping individuals regain physical health, experience whole-person healing, and rediscover the dignity and purpose they were created for.
Medical Services
HopeHealth’s medical services are delivered by an integrated team of Healthcare Aides (HCA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Registered Nurses (RN), Primary Care Paramedics (PCP), and Nurse Practitioners (NP). Working collaboratively, the team provides coordinated, client-centered care that addresses acute health needs, supports chronic conditions, and promotes long-term wellness. Our goal is to deliver skilled, compassionate care that fosters healing and sustained renewal.
Social Supports
Our social supports team works closely alongside the medical services team from the very beginning of care, ensuring continual coordination between medical and social supports. Staff walk with individuals as they navigate systems and services essential to stability and long-term well-being. This includes assistance with detox and addiction recovery services, employment supports, transitional and permanent housing pathways, income supports, ID services, and other community-based resources. Through this integrated approach, we help individuals take meaningful steps toward greater security, hope, and independence.
HopeHealth Programs
HopeHealth delivers its services through four core program areas designed to provide integrated, compassionate, and barrier-free care: Health Shelter (24/7), Rapid Response Team (24/7), Low-Barrier Walk-In Health Clinics, and Transitional Housing. Across all four programs, health and social supports are fully integrated and woven throughout the care we provide, ensuring that individuals receive coordinated, whole-person support from initial contact through long-term stabilization. Together, these programs offer the full spectrum of services needed for safety, recovery, and lasting wellness.
Health Shelter (24/7)
Located on the main floor of the Herb Jamieson Centre, the Health Shelter provides 24/7 medically supported shelter care for individuals who are medically stable yet require ongoing health support. Care is delivered by Healthcare Aides, Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners (daytime clinical coverage). The team provides continuous health monitoring, medication support, basic treatments, and coordinated care within a safe, stabilized environment where both medical and social supports are always accessible.
Rapid Response Team (RRT) - 24/7
The Rapid Response Team delivers 24/7 urgent medical support in and around the Herb Jamieson Centre and Bruce Reith Centre. The team responds to overdoses, medical emergencies, and other acute health events. Each unit consists of Primary Care Paramedics and Health Advocates, alongside Recovery Coaches who assist individuals in accessing detox, addiction treatment, and ongoing recovery services. RRT ensures immediate, compassionate intervention while facilitating connection to longer-term health and social supports.
Low-Barrier Walk-In Health Clinics
HopeHealth operates several daytime, low-barrier walk-in clinics providing accessible medical care at the Herb Jamieson Health Clinic, Karis Centre Health Clinic, CarePoint Wellness Centre Health Clinic, and the Wetaskiwin Shelter Health Clinic. Registered Nurses provide wound care, foot care, frostbite care, general health assessments, care coordination, case management, and connections to community and health resources. No appointments are required, ensuring timely, person-centered access to care.
Traditional Housing (Immigration Hall)
Immigration Hall offers transitional housing for individuals who are medically stable but continue to require ongoing health or social support. The program serves those who have accessed the Health Shelter or walk-in clinics and also accepts referrals from other community programs, including emergency shelters or directly from hospital. Located across the street from the Herb Jamieson Centre, Immigration Hall provides a supportive housing environment where the HopeHealth medical and social teams wrap around residents—helping them stabilize, build capacity, and connect to long-term supports such as permanent housing, addiction recovery programs, and seniors living options.
