“I DIDN’T WANT TO LIVE. I DIDN’T WANT ANY MORE PAIN. I WAS TIRED OF IT.”

Susan remembers the day that everything in her life went dark. After losing everything, she fell into hopeless despair. Susan and her daughter were hungry, hurting, and had no place to escape the freezing cold winter winds. In a desperate attempt for survival, Susan and her daughter found an apartment building and curled up on the floor of the laundry room to sleep.

“THE HOPE MISSION VAN CAME AND RESCUED US.”

Susan and her daughter were woken up by smiling faces from Hope Mission’s Rescue Van and were brought to Hope Mission’s safe and warm shelter. For Susan, this was just the beginning of a journey towards sobriety, healing, and hope.

“IT’S A MIRACLE TO HAVE A HOT MEAL. AND HAVING A WARM PLACE TO SLEEP… IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.”

Recently, Susan graduated from Wellspring, our year-long addiction recovery program for women. Her life has been put on a brand new path and she is excited for the ways that she can begin to give back.

“I’M TAKING CARE OF MYSELF IN A WAY THAT’S HEALTHY AND I HAVE PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT ME HERE NOW.”

Right now, you can provide a meal and care for a hurting and hungry neighbour for just $2.70. For many, a simple meal can be the beginning of a journey towards healing, hope, and transformation.
