Walk for those who are hurting and hungry in Edmonton.

Lead Your Team to a Different Kind of Victory

I see the dedication your athletes bring to the ice, the field, and the court. Now, I am inviting your team to channel that same competitive spirit into a powerful force for good through Cold Hands Warm Hearts, a 3km or 5km walk to help our vulnerable neighbours.

When your team joins this challenge, you aren’t just fundraising. You are becoming the essential catalyst for transformation in our city.

Your Team’s Impact

Because of your team’s compassion, our vulnerable neighbors will receive the immediate care they need to survive the winter:

  • Your grit provides hot, nutritious meals for those facing hunger.
  • Your hard work ensures a safe, warm bed for someone escaping the bitter cold.
  • Your heart offers a pathway to recovery and transformation for those struggling with addiction.

Why Your Team Should Step Up

I have seen how a common goal off the field strengthens the bond on the field. Whether you are a hockey, baseball, soccer, or basketball team, joining Cold Hands Warm Hearts will:

  • Build Character: Your athletes see firsthand how their personal compassion changes lives.
  • Unify the Squad: Nothing builds team chemistry like working together to provide life-saving care.
  • Demonstrate Leadership: Your team becomes a beacon of hope, showing our community what local athletes can achieve when they play for something bigger than themselves.

Compete for the Top Spot

I want to recognize the incredible effort your team puts in. To honor your dedication, I am offering prizes for the top three fundraising teams who go above and beyond for our vulnerable neighbors.

I am moved by the potential of your team’s compassion. Let’s work together to ensure no one is left out in the cold.

We walk for people like Brandon

I was outside with no winter gear and it was -35. All I had was a shirt and jeans. Eventually, I collapsed and laid in a snowdrift. Hope Mission’s rescue van spotted my arm sticking out of the snow. They saved me, giving me food, clothes, and a warm bed. They’re helping me a lot. If it weren’t for Hope Mission, I wouldn’t be here.

We walk for people like Amy

I was hungry, cold, homeless. The Hope Mission rescue van picked me up and brought me to the shelter where I was given a warm meal. It was at the shelter that I felt hope again. I felt like I could take my life back. Since then, I’ve joined the women’s addiction recovery program and have been working towards sobriety!

We walk for people like Phillip

I was homeless, out on the streets in the winter and the cold that night was unbearable. My hands and feet went numb, I couldn’t feel my toes anymore. When I got to Hope Mission, the nurses acted fast, treating my frostbite and warming me up. Later, the doctor said if it hadn’t been for them, I would’ve lost my leg. Those nurses didn’t just save my leg—they gave me hope when I had none left.

We walk for people like Sarah

I was fleeing domestic violence. I lived in a hotel for three months, burning through my money, eating microwave meals that barely kept me going. I didn’t know where to go. Thank God I was brought to Hope Mission’s women shelter. I’m 61, and I know I wouldn’t survive on the streets. But now I’m finally safe, with good people around helping me.
